Published by reichiru under InuYasha Edit This

Today, the second of the four InuYasha movies!

InuYasha the Movie 2 (cover)

Title: InuYasha the Movie: The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass
Released: 2002
Running Time: 100 min.
Theme Song
: “Yura Yura” by Every Little Thing

Synopsis: The story begins with the defeat of Naraku by InuYasha and the gang. After the introduction of a new character, Akitoki Hojo (ancestor of the Hojo from Kagome’s school), the group disbands with InuYasha, Kagome and Shippo pursuing the remaining Shikon Jewel shards, Sango returning to her village with Kirara, and Miroku returning to his master’s.

Back at school, Kagome learns the legend of Princess Kaguya, who is said to be very beautiful, but turned away all her suitors. Kagura and Kanna, meanwhile, stumble upon a mirror shrine, and the spirit in the mirror claims to be Kaguya. She promises Kagura freedom if she and Kanna will find the five items that will free her from the mirror. After a scuffle with InuYasha (as a piece of his robe was one of the five items), Kagura and Kanna succeed in freeing Kaguya, who then starts to eclipse the world in eternal night, and it is up to InuYasha and the gang to stop her.

Comments: Another very heart-warming movie, I especially liked this one because it goes into a little bit more of each of the gang’s lives, plus there’s the scene in Kaguya’s castle that made this movie such a favourite among fans! This movie was released in between episodes 95 and 96 of the anime. Plus, another plus of this film is the character designs are all similar to the way Rumiko Takahashi draws them in the manga, not like the anime series.
